Bumps, cuts, scratches and the tears that come with them are all part of childhood. We’ve been helping parents to comfort their little ones for over 90 years. And we know there’s no substitute for a cuddle from Mum. Healing is about more than a great plaster. This is a chance to share our experiences of outdoor play, parenting and making our children feel better. Together we can raise them healthy and happy!
I am Princess Alina and I live in a palace in the sky. It is the highest tower in the whole wide world. One day I came back from the valley of flowers, where I had been visiting my cousins. I was climbing back up to my home at the top of the world with my friend Billy, the beautiful butterfly. He was dancing around like butterflies do. Suddenly, Meany, the ugly Crow appeared, trying to catch Billy. I chased Meany away, but that made me slip and fall down. I hurt my knee with a painful scratch. A fairy appeared and gave me a magic tiny picture that conjured the pain away immediately.See her pictures
I’m Mat the cowboy. I was riding on my horse looking after my cows, when all of a sudden I saw a wolf in a distance. He tried to sneak up to my favourite calf, Lilly. I was horrified! I galloped as fast as the wind to save little Lilly. She was mooing in panic, but I came to the rescue! The wolf fled as I chased him away. But suddenly my horse got spooked by a rattlesnake and bucked me out of the saddle! I landed on the ground. There was a cut on my skin but cowboys are brave.See his pictures
My name is Tarantula-Gregg and I am a giant spider. But don’t be scared! I’m a very friendly spider. I love cheesecake and I am a big fan of super-heroes. (I watch super-hero movies together with my Dad, Tarantula-Tom. We do it in secret because Mum never would allow. Sssshhh!) The other day I had just woven a perfect net to live in and to catch pieces of cheesecake when a rival tarantula appeared and wanted to conquer my net. I defeated him, but during the fight I fell off my web and got injured. I shed a big spider tear, but the spider-plaster and the spider surprise made me smile again.See his pictures
I am a lovely little bird called Renée the Robin. When the sun came up one summer’s day, I waved my mum goodbye because I wanted to fly to the sky. I flew up so high. I was above the houses, above the trees - above the eagle! Singing my favourite song, I reached the sky. The world down below was so small, people were tiny like ants and I couldn’t see my mum anymore. As I tried to touch a fluffy cloud with my wings, I lost balance, tumbled and fell down and crashed. Luckily, I was just hurt a little and my mum was there to take care of me…See her pictures
Every parent wants their child to run free outdoors. To watch kids have fun in the fresh air is the best thing ever – but it can be tough seeing them upset when they hurt themselves. There’s no right or wrong way to be a parent, but wow - there’s a lot of advice out there! Sometimes sharing experiences with other mums and dads is the most helpful thing of all. And discovering a little about development from a real expert can be fascinating and useful, too.
